Welcome to Laboratory Crossbridges

We are constantly inspired by the legacy of a fine investigator and incomparable human being
Prof. Michael L. Pollock, Ph.D., former Professor and Head of the Center for Exercise Sciences at
University of Florida (Gainesville, FL, USA)
and former President of the American College of Sports Medicine.

Our research group investigates the acute and chronic effects of resistance exercise as it applies to health, quality of life, rehabilitation, disease prevention and sports performance. Faculty and students at different levels (undergrad and grad) from different areas such as Physical Education, Medicine, Physiotherapy, Nutrition, Psychology, among others, participate in the group's projects.

After 15 years at the Universidade Gama Filho, as part of the Graduate Program in Exercise and Sport Sciences (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil), we joined the new Graduate Program in Exercise and Sport Sciences (Grade 4 from CAPES) from the Instituto de Educação Física e Desportos, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ)

The Group's projects are sponsored by grants from Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico - CNPq (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Government of Brasil) and Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro - FAPERJ (Secretariat of Science and Technology, State Government of Rio de Janeiro).
